If Billy Joel and Elton John can make magic together on tour year after year, why not Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman? The two contemporary Christian superstars first joined forces on the road in 2008 with many dates selling out in seconds. And so, a new batch of spring shows has been scheduled. Dubbed "The United Tour," the outing will feature Smitty highlighting his new disc A New Hallelujah (Reunion) and Steven Curtis Chapman culling from his latest effort This Moment (Sparrow).
Outside of separate sets, the two are slated to collaborate with one another in classic Joel/John fashion, swapping choruses with one another on signature tracks and even trading full tunes on occasion. The pair is poised to also plug its respective charities, which include Chapman's Shaohannah's Hope and Smith's longtime outreach partner Compassion International.
